Every collector know this classic and famous italian locality that was one of the largest sulfur mines of Sicily, famous for producing the most beautiful sulphur specimens in the world; the mine was closed in 1988, and on November 12, 1990 the last six sulfur mines in Sicily were definitively closed. Not only beautiful all around but also a very interesting specimen, this piece host three mineral species highly representative for this mine; on a bed of crystallized Aragonite are present many Sulphur crystals with typical yellow color, at the base of one of those the Bitumen has formed a small black lake with lustrous surface. Bitumen is present everywhere on the piece, creating a more or less intense black grid between the Aragonite crystals with a final catch-eye display.
